Job Duties
The Hampton Roads District is seeking two new Tunnel Maintenance Supervisors (Facilities Specialist Supervisor Bridge Tunnel) to direct and supervise the daily operations of facility maintenance crews (electrical, mechanical, and/ or plumbing) located at the Hampton Roads Harbor Tunnels (HRHT). One position will work the day shift, and one position will work nights (7:00pm - 5:00am Monday - Thursday). The position will supervise the maintenance and repair of all electrical and/ or mechanical equipment, while using a computerized maintenance management system (work order system). Responsibilities also include directing and supervising crew responses to emergencies; and performing duties as a Contract Administrator or Contract Monitor. This position is designated as essential and, as such, all duties associated with this job are required during emergency situations which may include but are not limited to inclement weather, disaster response, and emergency operations.

NOTE: All drivers hired without a valid CDL in hand are required to obtain their CDL within 11 months of their hire date. You cannot operate commercial motor vehicles prior to receiving the necessary licensure and medical certification. Effective February 7, 2022, new Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) regulations require entry-level drivers (drivers who are seeking to take the skills test in order to obtain a CDL for the first time, upgrade their CDL from a Class B to a Class A, or take the knowledge test to obtain a hazardous materials endorsement for the first time) to complete FMCSA- approved Entry-Level Driving (ELD) Training before the Department of Motor Vehicles can grant the requested CDL or endorsement. The course is comprised of 160 hours, on average, of training. VDOT is willing to assist with your enrollment in and payment for the course.
Fingerprint-based background check required. References, work history, and DMV records will be verified. Employment is contingent upon successful completion of records check conducted by the agency. Applicants must be eligible to work in the United States. H1B VISA Sponsorship is not available.
VDOT utilizes a market based pay program, which has been approved by DHRM. Therefore, advertised rates of pay may or may not align with the Commonwealth pay bands.
